Smokehouse apple tree is a seedling of the ancient American variety, Vandevere. The Smokehouse apple tree originated in Lampeter Township, PA around the 1800’s adjacent to Mr. William Gibbons’ smokehouse. Smokehouse apple is a tender, but firm, exceedingly juicy, with yellow tinged flesh. The Smokehouse apple has a fresh cider flavor. A precocious bearer and reliable cropper. Flattish, red-striped yellow fruit. Excellent keeper, very good quality apple for multiple uses.
