Our Story

How We Got Started

We are Farmer Joe, Grace, Hailee, Charlie and Owen and have built, planted and run Honey Creek Orchard. We, as a family, bought this land as a blank slate of farmland in 2016. Our love of all things outdoors and farm to table ideas started as two apple trees and a small garden in our own backyard. Purchasing this blank land led us to follow our family’s desire to make memories with our children, while teaching them where their food comes, small business principles and sharing the love and joy of food and hard work with the community.

Joe’s background in Horticulture and passion for apples led him to finding unique rootstock apple trees that bring history and unique flavors to local Cedarburg. We have now hand planted over 2400 apple trees in our orchard, which include 75 unique and flavorful varieties. Each of our children have enjoyed a specific and unique farm hobby to include on the farm. Hailee raises our honey bees and hives as well as taking on planting our front fields of beautiful Cut Your Own Flowers and Sunflowers. Owen has taken on the animals. His love for all things farm animals started with a small chicken flock, to now expanding to a mini cow, two mini donkeys, a sheep that we purchased from the 4H Fair, a Zebu, ducks and more. Hailee has her mini goats too that she shows at Fair. Charlie is our Tractor man. He is all hands on deck with all things equipment. He runs and operates our machines on the farm and loves tilling and planting the fields with our Tractor collection.

Every farm needs a barn, so shortly after purchasing the land, we built our barn that sits in the front of our property. This barn houses all of our farm’s delicious goodies and treats! We make our very own Apple Cider Donuts fresh each morning in our kitchen on our doughnut machine (peek in our window to check it out!) as well as having regular concessions to offer for snacks and drinks.  Of course we have classic farm goodies to take home with you that include our Apple Cider, Apple Pies, Maple Syrup bottled fresh each year, Apple Bread,  Streuseland cookies and more.

While our farm has fulfilled our love of sharing and caring for the food we eat and land we live on, we have created some of the most fun and unique activities for everyone to enjoy. The life size slide tubes, corn crib silo, life size wooden blocks, hay maze, oversized swings, playground equipment, our tractors on show case to sit on as well as our grain bin basketball hoops and much more are fun for kids and adults alike.

The evolving life of our farm brings us such joy to share with the community. We look forward to sharing it with you and hope you enjoy your time with us as much as we have enjoyed creating this beautiful place.
